SAN MIGUEL FOODS ALLOWS USE OF 40,000 M² LAND FOR USTP-SUMILAO EXTENSION CAMPUS

In a significant boost to the education sector in Bukidnon, San Miguel Foods, Inc. (SMFI), under the leadership of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and CEO Ramon S. Ang, has granted the Local Government of Sumilao access to a 40,000-square meter parcel of land in Barangay San Vicente. The area will serve as the future site of an extension campus of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP).

The landmark agreement, set to take effect in the School Year 2025–2026, is hailed as a strong manifestation of SMC and SMFI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in support of educational development in the region.

Congressman Jose Manuel “Joeman” Alba expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders involved in making the project a reality. Special thanks were extended to outgoing Mayor Jose Antonio Villo and incoming Mayor Venice Villo, both of whom strongly advocated for expanding access to quality education in the municipality.

Vice Mayor Jim Baula and the entire Sangguniang Bayan of Sumilao were also commended for their unanimous support for the establishment of the USTP-Sumilao extension campus.

“This extension campus is a game-changer,” said Cong. Alba. “It brings new hope and opportunities for more Sumilao residents to pursue higher education without leaving their hometown.”

The new campus is expected to accommodate a growing number of students in Bukidnon, offering courses and programs aligned with regional development needs. The initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration between private corporations and local government in building a brighter future for the youth.
