Nearly 3,000 Join Colorful Pride March in Cagayan de Oro

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – June 28, 2025 – A vibrant display of unity and advocacy lit up the streets of Cagayan de Oro as nearly 3,000 participants gathered for this year’s Pride March, one of the key highlights of the city’s annual Pride Month celebration held every June.

Representatives from various barangays, city government offices, non-government organizations, private companies, youth groups, and advocacy networks came together to show support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Clad in rainbow colors and waving flags, participants marched through the main streets of the city, celebrating diversity, inclusion, and equal rights for all.

The event featured live performances, speeches from local advocates, and solidarity messages from city officials, underscoring the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation.

Organizers hailed the large turnout as a sign of growing awareness and support for LGBTQIA+ rights in Cagayan de Oro. They emphasized that while the event is festive, it also serves as a platform to push for policy changes, promote mental health awareness, and encourage respectful dialogue within communities.

“Pride is both a celebration and a protest,” one organizer shared. “We march not just to celebrate who we are, but also to remind society that there’s still work to be done in achieving true equality.”

The Pride March continues to be a beacon of love and hope in Northern Mindanao, inspiring more people to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community year after year.
