Cebu-based developer targets CDO for next luxury project

AppleOne Group, a prominent property developer based in Cebu, has announced its expansion into Mindanao. The company plans to establish a new luxury brand hotel in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) by 2024.

Samantha Manigsaca, assistant vice president for hospitality at AppleOne Group, Inc., stated, “AppleOne will continuously define trends and lead the way in elevating industry standards across residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. By bringing in global brands, we aim to enhance the visibility and recognition of Visayas and Mindanao on the world stage, thanks to the market these brands attract to our region.”

CDO, one of Mindanao’s most rapidly growing and urbanized cities, is expected to become the Philippines’ fourth metropolitan area by 2025, as outlined in the Philippine Development Plan for 2023-2028. This growth is driven by its increasing population and strategic role as a gateway and logistics hub for Northern Mindanao.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Northern Mindanao, CDO experienced a significant 9.4 percent growth rate, contributing to its rising share of the national GDP in 2022. This places it third among urbanized areas, following Davao and Cebu.

Given these favorable conditions, AppleOne’s expansion into Cagayan de Oro is a strategic decision, Manigsaca explained. Initially focusing on the greater Visayas area, AppleOne is currently developing the JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort & Spa in Bohol, furthering its commitment to high-end developments.
