Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is advocating for a new tax reform bill that aims to increase the take-home pay of Filipino workers by raising the income tax exemption threshold to P400,000 annually.
The bill, officially filed on Tuesday and titled the “Ginhawa Bill” or “Granting Increase in Take-Home Pay for All Working Filipinos Act,” proposes amendments to the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997. Under the current law, only those earning up to P250,000 per year are exempt from income tax.
